25 february 2020

February 25, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov paid a working visit to the Bauman Moscow State Technical University. Rector Anatoly Alexandrov told the Minister about the latest developments in the framework of the national projects “Science” and “Education” and introduced the leading research teams of the university. Valery Falkov also visited the FMN Laboratory, where he was acquainted with the team's advanced technologies in the field of quantum computing, nanophotonics and bionanotechnology.

The Minister took a chance to visit the Cleanroom premises – the heart of the Laboratory – where the elemental base for devices of a new generation is produced. Among the latter are processors for the future Russian quantum computer that are used today by the Russia’s leading scientific groups in their researches.

The young scientists of the Laboratory told about the unique technological base of the center, as well as the promising developments and technological expertise that will allow Russia to claim leadership in the field of quantum computing and the creation of lab-on-a-chip devices.

Ilya Rodionov, FMN Laboratory Director, chaperoned the Minister and the Rector during the “tour” around the laboratory premises. Valery Falkov and Anatoly Alexandrov could observe each stage of the production of a quantum chip: from cleaning substrates and applying resist to measuring the output parameters of samples in a dissolution cryostat.

“Today here in Baumanka we are creating new technologies for innovative devices and systems that will very soon radically change a person’s life. In all our main areas: from quantum computing to nanophotonics, we strive to demonstrate excellent results that will ultimately become the basis for advanced serial devices,” said Ilya Rodionov.
